New Millennium, New Publishing Staff
As the Millennium approaches, Internet and newsletter publishers seek to "futurize" their works.
Not only must the webpage and newsletters change, but so must the publishers. I have
enjoyed writing this newletter for there years and authoring the website for a little
over one year. Unfortunately, I can no longer carry on this responsibility while at
college.
I would like as many comments as possible over the next monthon the newletter and
webpage, as I will write one more newsletter and remodel the website one more time.
Who is going to do it after that, you ask? This is up to the Chapter to select the
individual(s). Please come to me, Corey Chapman, if you are interested in one or both of
these tasks.
Vigil Honor
The Vigil Honor is awarded to those who have shown exceptional commitment to the Order
of the Arrow and Boy Scouts. It is symbolized by the sash with the extra arrow point in
the center of the arrow. Only approximately twenty-five scouts and Scouters are selected
yearly by the Council for this honor.
Nominations for this year are due by November 15 to the Council office. Nominees must
have a minimum of 2 years since receiving brotherhood.
Nominating Committee (yes, for your officers)
The Nominating Committee met on August 1 and selected a slate of candidates for the 1999-2000 Chapter offices and chair positions. If you are 21 years of age or younger,
and wish to be added to the list for Chapter officer elections, please contact a Chapter
officer by August 30.
During the Fall Reunion, September 17-19, the Chapter will elect new offers and appoint
new chairmen. The following is a list of the available offices, followed by chair
positions:

Ordeal members--please consider going for Brotherhood questioning on Saturday afternoon
(just "be prepared," have your money, and write a brief report).
Chapter Achievement Program
What is it? -- Chapters can be designated as an Honor Chapter, Merit Chapter, or
Standard Chapter, according to the number of points received by completing a list of
goals produced by the Council.
Why use it? -- It is an honor to be recognized, but this program is mainly to keep
chapters on track and make them feel proud.
What are some of the goals? -- Good communication, Ordeal to Brotherhood conversion
rate, service projects, officer participation, camp promotion.
How do we rate? -- As the 1998-1999 year is coming to a close, Osage is pushing towards
a Merit Chapter. How we rate is up to you, however.
Heh-heh!!!

OK, Do You Remember OA's Purpose Or Not?
- To recognize campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in
their daily lives and, by such recognition, cause others to conduct
themselves in such a manner as to warrant recognition.
- To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
- To promote Scout camping, which reaches its greatest effectiveness
as part of the unit’s overall program.
- To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose
of leadership in cheerful service to others.
