Perfect Weather On A Boy Scout Weekend?
On the weekend of April 30, the saying that "it isn't a campout without
rain (or snow)" failed the Osage District. The 1999 Osage District Spring
Camporee was held at Beaumont Scout Reservation, and proved to be a success
throughout the warm, sunny weekend. The theme for the Camporee was "Earthquake."
Each patrol and den had to strive to achieve points on the projects;
Scouts had to determine what skills were needed for each project before
the Camporee. During the afternoon project hours, Scouts and Scouters
were able to attend a demonstration provided by a Search and Rescue Team.
A few troops/packs received Merit and Honor and most others received
the Merit Award at the Closing Ceremony of the Camporee.

Membership requirements at the Conclave.
The new Osage Ordeal Team presented its first ceremony at the Spring
Conclave to the two Ordeal candidates.
The future Is Here
If you have attended a number of Chapter meetings recently, you will
notice that the Drumbeat has been "futurized." This is to make it more
visually appealing, provide more-informative news, and update it according
to changing times.
One major change is the header, which now has an arrowhead, instead
of an Indian. This change was made in sync with OA's new national logo,
the arrow.

Official Moron Test (based on typical Harvard graduation requirements)
- Is there a 4th of July in England (yes or no)?
- How many birthdays does the average man have?
- Some months have 31 days. How many have 28?
- How many outs are there in an inning?
- There are 3 apples and you take two away. How many apples are you
left with?
- A doctor gives you three pills and tells you to take one every half
an hour. How long will the pills last?
- A farmer has 17 sheep. All but 9 of them die. How many are left?
- A butcher in the market is 5' 10" tall. What does he weigh?
- What was the President's name in 1960?
Answers:
- Yes. It comes right after the 3rd.
- One. You can only be born once.
- Twelve. All of them have at least 28 days.
- Six. There is a top and bottom to every inning.
- Two. Take two apples, so YOU have TWO apples.
- One hour. If you take the first pill at 1:00, the second at 1:30,
and the third at 2:00, the pills have run out and only an hour has passed.
- Nine. All BUT nine die.
- Meat (that is self-explanatory).
- Bill Clinton. As far as I know, he hasn't changed it.
Remember OA's Purpose?
- To recognize campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in
their daily lives and, by such recognition, cause others to conduct
themselves in such a manner as to warrant recognition.
- To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
- To promote Scout camping, which reaches its greatest effectiveness
as part of the unit’s overall program.
- To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose
of leadership in cheerful service to others.
